Fostoria City Schools Announce Open Enrollment

Fostoria City Schools announced in a press release that they are accepting open enrollment applications for students wanting to attend elementary or Jr/Sr High School for the 2025-26 school year. 

 

Applications are available at all of the school buildings or on the district website. Applications can be turned in between March 1 to April 31, 2025 to any building. All requests will be looked at by May 16.

Fostoria Police Respond to Fatal Incident

On Tuesday, Fostoria police and EMS responded to 1521 N. Countyline St. on reports of an unresponsive infant. First Responders began using lifesaving actions on the infant and transported then transported the infant to the Fostoria ProMedica Hospital. The 4-month-old was later pronounced deceased. 

 

As Fostoria Detectives and Wood County Children Services investigated the scene, they concluded the infants’ passing was not of natural causes or accidental. The child had injuries that were brought on from trauma and abuse, which lead them to the determine the father, 24-year-old Joseph D. Bonito, purposefully hurt the infant.

 

Authorities charged Bonito with murder and child endangerment. He is currently being held in the Wood County Jail with no bond. The incident is still under investigation.

BVHS Release Statement on Retail Pharmacies

Blanchard Valley Health System announced in a recent press release that residents can use the on-site outpatient pharmacy in the hospital or at Harry’s Pharamcy inside the Carey Medical & Diagnostic Center. BVHS employees can assist customers in creating new accounts at both locations, which accept most insurance plans. Below are addresses and contact information of both pharmacies.
