ODOT's New Campaign for Left Lane Drivers

The Ohio Department of Transportation is reminding drivers that the left lane is to be used for passing and not cruising. In a social media campaign, they are using the statement “Camp in a park, not in the left lane.”

ODOT is hoping that this campaign will shrink the risk of unsafe conditions and frustrate other drivers. Officials are encouraging drivers to allow slower drivers time to move across lanes, to avoid road rage and to wait for the right moment to switch lanes.

In Ohio, drivers are required to use the left lane for passing and to avoid going under the speed limit. If a driver cannot do this, they receive a $150 fine on their first offense.
