According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 26-year-old woman from Lakeside Marblehead is in serious condition after striking a semi at 3:30 p.m. Monday on State Route 53 north of the Ohio Turnpike Fremont toll plaza.
Authorities say that the semi was backing away from a nearby field to pick up a load. She was traveling south on SR 53 in an SUV and crashed her vehicle into the middle of the trailer, trapping her underneath.
Medical personnel airlifted her to a nearby hospital while the occupants of the semi, a 70-year-old driver from Tiffin and 37-year-old passenger from Fremont, did not sustain injuries.
