Nearly $47,000 Worth of Drugs Seized in Wood County

On August 18th, at 4:12 p.m., Ohio State Troopers found 332 grams of heroin, 51 grams of fentanyl, six Oxycodone pills and 120 grams of marijuana totaling in $46,975 of drugs. They found the drugs during a traffic stop when pulling over 35-year-old Victor J. Boyd and 31-year-old Antonio L. Jones Sr., both from Detroit, for an expired registration.

While troopers were talking to the passengers, the odor of raw marijuana was coming inside of the vehicle. The troopers found a suspected baggie of marijuana in the vehicle and conducted a pat-down on Boyd and Jones, discovering drugs on them. They found the additional drugs when troopers found probable cause to search the vehicle.

They incarcerated both of the suspects in the Wood County Justice Center on first degree charges for possession of heroin. They were both indicted by the Wood County Court of Common Pleas. Byrd and Jones are facing first degree felony charges for trafficking and possessing heroin and fentanyl-related compound. While Jones is also being indicted on aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony.

If they convict Byrd, the court could sentence him to up to 44 years in prison and impose a fine of up to $80,000. Jones could face 45 years in prison with a fine up to $82,000.
