The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Norwalk Post is currently investigating a one-vehicle accident that happened Monday around 4:21 p.m. on Snyder Road west of Ohio 61, Peru Township.

 

81-year-old Shirley McQuillen, of Willard, was driving a 2016 Ford escape while traveling east on Snyder Road. According to the report, McQuillen went off the right side of the roadway hitting a fence post and a tree before overturning. 

 

She was not wearing a seatbelt and was trapped in the vehicle. The Huron River Joint Fire District helped McQuillen get out of the vehicle by non-mechanical means. The injuries she sustained from the crash ended up being fatal.

 

Drugs and alcohol are not a factor in the crash. The accident is still under investigation.
