Maybe you were one of the few thousand people that were in attendance last year for WFOB/Mix 96.7 night at Fifth Third Field and witnessed my less than perfect first pitch. If you weren't well... you're lucky. While it won't rank up there as the worst ever it still bounced in the batter’s box and hit the catcher in the shin. In my defense I still maintain that I couldn't see the pitcher due to the sun (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it). To put it in perspective… the Detroit Pistons mascot who literally has no hands fired a strike right down Broadway and so did a little boy in crocks and jorts.
As a shot putter throughout high school I have to say this "throwing a baseball" thing is a little weird to me still. It is obvious by my form and how high the ball is coming out of my hand (see the picture below) that I had a little shot put technique in that throw.
Not looking too bad... As you can see... too much air! Detroit Pistons Mascot
That being said I have been watching videos on what not to do… Like Shawn Johnson, Carly Rae Jepson & John Wall…
The training has already commenced. I’m working on my slider for my redemption at first pitch glory! Or… you know… just throwing the ball around in the park. Whatever is a more heroic image for you.
Coming up in the next few days be watching the website and listening to the Mix to find out how you could win tickets to witness this epic event and if you’re a Mix VIP you’ll be sent the info even faster!
We will see you July 26th at Fifth Third Field in Toledo! You can get your tickets at MudHens.com!
