Nick & I were having the conversation today about what we were going to do now that some of our favorite shows are on a break for the summer. It’s crazy how much you plan your life around a TV show in a way. I am thankful for having a DVR because without it I wouldn’t be able to see much of anything with my weird schedule. For me my “Must Watch” shows are Chicago Fire, Nashville, NCIS & NCIS: Los Angeles. I am now trying to find shows to fill my time.
On the recommendation of a friend of mine I have started watching the show Mad Men. Thankfully through Netflix I am able to start at the beginning and I have to say I am obsessed and kind of sad that I never watched it before! Long story short its set in the 1960’s and is centered around a group of Madison Avenue Advertising Executives or “Mad Men” as they call themselves. IMDB says "A drama about one of New York's most prestigious ad agencies at the beginning of the 1960s, focusing on one of the firm's most mysterious but extremely talented ad executives, Donald Draper.". Jon Hamm, Elizabeth Moss & January Jones are awesome in the show. I would rate it a 4 out of 5.
I also got hooked a while ago on the Netflix original series House of Cards. I’ll be honest I was as skeptical as you can be about an original series on Netflix but I almost had to binge watch it because it hooked me so fast. Kevin Spacy & Kate Mara work so well together and it’s a captivating story line like nothing on TV. It is a political drama that centers on the relationship of Senator Frank Underwood (Spacy) & Zoe Barnes (Mara) who is a writer. I’d give it 4 out of 5.
Finally a show that I am using to fill the void left by my normal shows is Bob’s Burgers. It’s an animated show that is centered on the Belcher Family (consists of Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene and Louise) who own a hamburger restaurant. Bob is voiced by H. John Benjamin who is the voice of Archer (another one of my favorite shows). If you like family comedies and random animated shows you may enjoy it. I would give it 3 out of 5.
Are there any shows that are on Netflix/Hulu that I need to check out? Let me know!
