It’s no secret that Carrie Underwood and Hunter Hayes can be considered to be “country artists” but their show was more of a pop/rock show than any country act I have ever seen. You will hear Carrie on Mix from time to time (Before He Cheats) & lately Hunter as well (Wanted) so really they can be considered as more of a pop country artist. I am a bit of a concert junkie these days so when I heard that Carrie/Hunter were coming to Toledo I figured it was worth the trip up there.
Hunter Hayes really surprised me with his talent not just singing but really with his guitar skills. I knew he could play a ton of instruments but he plays them very well on top of it. If you don’t know many of his songs you can check them out here, here and here. He might be one to keep an eye out on the pop charts as well as the country charts in the next few years
If you watched American Idol you know that Carrie Underwood is quite the vocalist but let me be the first to tell you that you can’t really appreciate just HOW good she is until you hear her sing live. She may actually sound better live than she does on the radio.
Something that I don’t think I have seen at very many other shows is that the crowd was hanging on to her every word and in most cases singing along with every word. For being an arena she was commanding the room like it was a small club.
A true power house singer mixed in with some pretty cool production effects like a mini tornado and a floating stage it made for an awesome show and one that I would definitely recommend you see next time she comes to the area.
