Contact: Charles Schwochow @ 419-680-2780 Billy Lee @ 419-307-3123 Email: BLMventures@aol.com BATTLE OF THE BANDS SEEKS CONTESTANTS The second annual Fremont Battle of the Bands is scheduled to take place at the Fremont Arts and Music Festival, Sunday, May 17. Organizers are looking for participants to compete for the grand prize of recording time, and a $200.00 cash award. Board members of the festival, which runs May 15 through 17, in downtown Fremont, say they had great response after the inaugural Battle of the Bands last year. According to Arts & Music committee member, Charlie Schwochow, the society is trying to build on it's success. "It went great last year, and we had some great talent," says Schwochow. "We want it to be bigger and better this year." Schwochow added the event is a chance for aspiring and novice singers, songwriters, and musicians to get on a stage, share their talents and perform in a public setting in front of an audience. The contest begins at 1:00 P.M., and is open to any solo artist, duo act, as well as bands and musical groups. Each entry will have the ability to perform up to three songs each, in front of a three judge panel. Entrants must perform the music live, with no recorded tracks. There is a $35.00 per act entry fee to enter the contest. Top prize includes recording time, provided by The Strand Theater and Recording Studio, as well as the cash award. Second prize is $100.00, cash. The audience will also have the opportunity to get involved in the competition, and voice their opinion by voting in the "Peoples' Choice" catagory. According to Schwochow, the public can vote for their favorite act by placing money in their favorite acts respective container. Each dollar contributed will count as one vote. At the end of the judging, the "Peoples' Choice" award will be presented to the acts garnering the most votes. Schwochow says people can vote as much or as many times as they choose throughout the event. Last year's winner, "The Drop" will also make an appearance to perform while the judges tally their final scores. Deadline for Battle of the Bands entries is May 10. All contestants may register for the event, and pay their entry fee in cash, or by check at Fremont Music Center, 800 Rawson Avenue, in Fremont. Anyone needing more information may call Schwochow at 419-680-2780, George Keller at 419-355-8548, or Billy Lee at 419-307-3123.

By Mark DunnrnMay 8, 9 & 16, 2015- 7:30 PMrnMay 17, 2015- 2:00 PMrnTold in "two acts and forty-five phone calls," Belles visits six southern sisters, who, over the course of an autumn weekend, seek to bridge the physical and emotional distance between them via the telephone, and in the process come to terms with their shattered family history. The gold standard among Mr. Dunn's many plays about southern women, and offering very strong roles for an ensemble of six actresses, Belles continues to pack an emotional punch after all these years.rn
