FLEA MARKET, FREMONT-SANDUSKY CO. AG.

9:00AM

Flea Market Features New Attractions Food Venders, Dash For Cash Added to Activities Visitors to the Fremont Flea Market will see some changes on several fronts for the September 13 and 14 flea market. In an effort to entice more people to attend the monthly event, organizers say they have planned several new features and activities for the flea market - some will be featured immediately, while some will be unveiled in the upcoming months. One of the most notable changes will be the addition of outside "fair food" vendors. According to fair board member and Flea Market Chairman, Robert Zilles, visitors to the flea market have requested the food vendors for some time. In addition to the regular concession stand operated by the Agricultural Society inside the Flower building, outside vendors will offer deep fried treats, waffles, corn dogs, various sandwiches and fries, as well as other tasty food items to the general public on both days. "We had some requests for fair food at the flea markets, so we decided to give it a try," Zilles said. "People like the fair food year around." he added. Committee members of the event say if the outside food court is successful, they may add more vendors in the future. Another special feature debuting in September is the flea market's first ever "Dash for Cash." According to committee members, several tokens will be placed around the fairgrounds. Once found, the bearer of each token can then redeem it for a cash prize. While final preparations are still being honed for the special contest, officials say there will be numerous chances to win. The September flea market will also see the return of live music to the Log Cabin Stage on Saturday and Sunday. The "Tuning Up For Food" concerts will feature entertainers performing each day starting at 1:00 P.M., to benefit the Sandusky County Food Pantry. The family friendly shows are free of charge, however attendees are asked to bring non-perishable foods items to donate to the pantry. Monetary donations are also welcome and appreciated. The flea market is open Saturday, from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M., and Sunday from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Zilles says the committee always welcomes new vendors into the flea market. "We always have room for more," Zilles said. Admission and parking are free of charge to the general public each day. Those needing additional information on the flea markets, and for vendor opportunities, may call the Sandusky County Agricultural office at 419-332-5604, or visit their web site and Facebook page. The fairgrounds is located at 901 Rawson Avenue in Fremont.
