FINANCIAL MAKEOVER

OSU Extension Offering Financial Makeover Workshops Could your finances use a makeover? Ohio State University Extension, Hancock County’s class, titled “Basic Money Management,” can put you on the path to financial stability or strengthen your current financial security. Two workshop date opportunities to choose from are being offered on Thursday, September 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Family Center located at 1800 North Blanchard Street in Room 119, and Wednesday, September 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hancock County Agricultural Service Center located at 7868 County Road 140, Findlay. Amy Carles, Hancock Saves Program Coordinator leads the 90 minute workshop that discusses how your values, beliefs and emotions affect your spending decisions. You will learn how to reevaluate your “wants” and “needs,” develop and manage a spending plan, and discover money you were unaware that you had. Cost is $10 per person to cover materials. Scholarships may be available; inquire when registering. Registration is required, and closes at the end of the business day on the day prior to the scheduled workshop. INSIDE STATE MENTAL HOSPITALS, BOWLING GREEN

The Wood County Historical Museum is pleased to host a nationally-recognized photography exhibit by Christopher Payne called Asylum: "Inside the Closed World of State Mental Hospitals". The exhibit and companion book will be in the new gallery space at the Wood County Historical Museum May 31 - November 16, 2014. An opening reception is planned for Friday, May 30, from 6-8pm, with Payne's remarks and book signing. This event is free and open to the public.
