ART EXHIBIT, WESLEY MEMORIAL GALLERY, FOSTORIA

The Art of Norman Rockwell is now presented in a selection of his paintings at Wesley Memorial Gallery and continuing through January 31st, 2014. The gallery is located at 1200 Van Buren St., Fostoria in the narthex at Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria.The gallery is open to the public M-F 9am-5pm and at other times by telephoning Wesley United Methodist Church at 419-435-8551 and is handicapped accessible.

HPD OFFERS BIRD MONITORING PROGRAM

Friday, January 3 join Natural Resource Assistant Bob Sams to help conduct a Bird Diversity and Population Census. Interested participants should meet at 1 P.M. at shelter 3, in the Big Oaks Area, in Riverbend Recreation Area to begin. Participants should bring their binoculars as they will help to count all observable birds to accumulate data that will be used to help monitor population trends, land management effectiveness, and as a tool for long term habitat change and planning. Hiking distances and times will vary, but be prepared for weather, ground conditions, and at least 1 ½ - 2 ½ hours on the trails. This is an Adult Nature Education program; participants must be at least 18 years of age. No registration required. Interested participants just need to show up. Riverbend is located at 16618 Twp. Rd. 208, Findlay, via State Route 568 east and Twp. Rd. 208. Raccoon Run Winter Sports Center opens Friday, January 3 Raccoon Run Winter Sports Center is set to open Friday, January 3 and will remain open weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays until ground and weather conditions become unsuitable. Normal hours of operation at the concession are 11 A.M. – 5 P.M. The concession offers a complete outfitting of cross-country ski equipment and snowshoes for kids of all ages. Rentals fees are set at $7 per hour or $20 for the day and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Arrangements for all day rentals can be made through the HPD office during the week or at Raccoon Run during normal business hours. Equipment can be taken to other HPD areas. Beginner cross-country ski workshops are now available on Saturdays in January and February including January 4, 11, and 18 and February 1, 8, and 15 from 9-10:30 A.M. before the concession opens for public rentals. A snowshoe is scheduled for Saturday, January 25. All scheduled workshops are subject to proper snow and weather conditions. Sign the family up for a cross-country ski workshop to learn basic techniques like gliding, turning, and rhythm. Participants must be at least eight years of age with a participating adult. Cost is $12 for cross-country and $10 for snowshoe workshops. Register at the HPD office with fees by the Friday before each workshop date. Raccoon Run Winter Sports Center is located in Big Oaks Area Shelter 3 at Riverbend Recreation Area at 16618 TR 208, off SR 568 to TR 241 east of Findlay. Support for the Divorced and Separated, Fostoria

“New Life Journey: Divorced/Separated Support Program” is a DivorceCare, Inc. program designed to offer peer support and recovery education to divorced and separated persons. It begins Sunday January 5th and continues for 13 weeks. The program will be offered at St. Wendelin Parish Upper Room 323 N. Wood St., Fostoria from 6:30-8:30pm. You may join at any time during the 13-week period since each topic is self contained. Topics include facing anger, depression, loneliness, financial survival, new relationships, how divorce affects our kids, forgiveness and moving on. This ecumenical program is open to anyone regardless of faith denomination. The cost is $20 for materials with financial assistance available.
